My spring is insane (16-year old on two soccer teams plus school track) so I didn’t say interested in an April retreat but would love a day pass or to be included in Sept plan. I love reading what you write and always relate to it even though I’m not yet an empty nester!
My family of mostly grown children are going to Germany in July and I’m very nervous that what you described happened to you in Italy will happen to us. But I guess the lesson is it might but we should still go. Ps- because we are living parallel lives. I also saw the Oscar nominated shorts at the basis center cinema on Saturday night. Must’ve missed seeing you.
We are winding a 10 day vacation in Mustique. We brought our only son and his new wife. I had some trepidation pre-trip. All of us in one house? My son can be stubborn and I can be bossy. My husband and daughter in law are easy-peasy. Well it was a massive success. Maybe it was the accommodations, a private villa with a chef, housekeeper and gardener who took amazing care of us. Maybe it was maturity (mine as well as my son’s) but it was one of the best vacations we’ve ever taken. The newlyweds had alone time, I had time away from everyone at the tennis courts. My husband and daughter in law even went off exploring together.
Claire, I LOVE your shares. They are always spot-on and super honest. I appreciate that. Your trips sounded amazing. Also, Mustique sounds super exotic, I must know more. I am so glad you and your grown kid (+ spouses!) were able to share that experience. I'll let you know how me and my troop do in May. xo
Mustique is AMAZING. First time here and definitely not our last. It’s an all ladies in caftans and men in linen pants kind of vibe. Very British and very laid back.

Timely! My daughter and I are planning our first weekend trip together in September and we are both excited about it. Fingers crossed!

I hope your family trip is just as wonderful.
