I preferred Cutting For Stone over The Covenant of Water, as well. I love Varghese's writing in both, but felt like the plot in Covenant meandered too much. That said, if I will die a happy woman if I can birth a novel 1/4 as good as either book!
I love plane show watching, too! I usually get to watch shows that no one else in my house will even glance at. I'm loving All the Light We Cannot See. I may be the only person in North America who didn't read the book, but I love the series.
Charleston and Aruba in one week - I want to come back as you in my next life!
Sheryl, can you EVEN imagine writing something as complex as The Covenant of Water? Oooh, that made me think of an Instagram post where the author Jennifer Weiner takes down anyone criticizing "non-literary" fiction (ie: chick lit). ALL WRITING IS HARD she says. I finished All the Light when I returned from vacation and just loved it. Coincidentally, I just read it like a year ago when his latest novel came out (I liked All the Light a lot better). And finally, I know — two getaways in two weeks. What a life I have. I am so grateful. xo
ALL WRITING IS HARD...preach! I love prominent authors who stick up for the rest of us! HOWEVER, the comparison monster always creeps into my head in the middle of the night and whispers, "Abraham Varghese is an infectious disease physician and medical professor and wrote those books. What have YOU done lately, Missy?" Maybe I need to take a trip to Aruba and write on the beach? :)
San, ha! I have an Away carry on that my daughter gave me for Christmas a few years ago that I really like (its hard shell prevents me from trying to overstuff). I use that same tote I bring to work, an MZ Wallace tote (which my daughters refer to as "Mom's Diaper Bag") that is an absolute endless black hole, to stuff under the seat in front of me. I am looking to replace that though with a bag that has a sleeve I can slip over the Away handle to prevent it from slipping off (MZ Wallace makes a version of this tote with that sleeve).
How organized! I especially love when I finally realize a piece I've been holding onto well after the experts say you should get rid of something goes perfectly with more current pieces. That happened this summer when dressing for work and threw on a vintage Isaac Mizrahi for Target seersucker blazer I've had since forever (it's "vintage" bc I think I've owned it for 20 years) and got so many compliments. I was like, "What took me so long to incorporate this into my everyday wardrobe?"
Oooh. One of my girls lives in Philly. Please give a report!
Having seen these outfits IRL, I can attest that you did indeed look fabulous. 😊

I think Aruba's not a bad place to start. ;) Also: be kind to yourself! You're putting it all out there in the Universe! You're making it happen! xo
Are you going to reveal the perfect satchel/tote that all these fabulous outfits traveled in?? Please?

Love this show and tell. I am determined in the next couple weeks to pair my outfits in my closet so I’m not always guessing on the fly.

I’ve been dying to try those Everlane Barrel jeans/pants but I’m a shorty (5’2”) and I think they will be too long. They look great on you tho!
Hmmm. Does Everlane do petite sizing? They’re pretty short on me (I’m 5’4”). Maybe try them?
I’m meeting my sister at KOP mall tomorrow and they have an Everlane store. I’ll give them a try😊
